Ospreys are monogamous birds, which means that they form long-term pair bonds with their mates. When Ospreys mate and have young, they work together to care for their offspring and maintain their relationship. Even when they are not actively breeding, Ospreys will stay together year-round and continue to reinforce their bond.
Ospreys communicate with each other using a variety of vocalisations and body language. They use calls to signal their location and to coordinate their movements, and will often perform displays to reinforce their bond and maintain their relationship.
Ospreys have a strong attachment to their nesting sites and will often return to the same site year after year to breed. By returning to the same site, they are able to maintain their bond with their mate and reinforce their relationship.
Even after they have had a baby, Ospreys may engage in courtship displays to reinforce their bond and maintain their relationship. These displays can include aerial acrobatics, vocalisations, and other behaviors that help to strengthen their bond and communicate their affection for each other.
