Osprey is a type of large raptor bird of prey that is found worldwide, except for Antarctica. It is also known as the sea hawk or fish eagle because it feeds almost exclusively on fish.
Ospreys belong to the scientific genus Pandion and their species named is haliaetus.
While both male and female Ospreys have a brown and white feather pattern, the female tends to have more pronounced brown markings, especially on the chest and neck. Males may have a whiter head and neck.
Ospreys have been revered in many cultures throughout the world and are often seen as symbols of strength, freedom and independence. They have also been featured in mythology and folklore.
